Here we are……

After a recent trip to Reggio Emilia we have had our passion for the Reggio approach reignited and are embarking on a journey to embed the approach in so much more of what we do.  We have been inspired to learn more about the Reggio approach and how we can implement it here in Perth .
Acacia Hill Reggio Approach Tree

We have been talking about this for about 6 months now, our little committee of 5. We’ve looked at where the Reggio Emilia Approach came from and what it does. We have delved into why we think and want many aspects of this approach within Acacia Hill and what the benefits would be for our centres, the children, the families the educators and the community.

3 weeks ago we launched our idea with our centre coordinators and directors and this week took the big step of putting it out there in one of our centres. It’s now out there……. there is no turning back.

Over the next 7 weeks we will be getting all of our educators, children, families and anyone in the community who come into our centres to make their mark on the beginning of our journey.

By everyone placing their handprint on the Acacia Tree we are starting to live our belief that it takes a community to educate a child.

Here we will document our journey with regular posts on how we are implementing the Reggio Emilia Approach within an Australian setting.
